CMP's RED ONE OKC premiere party announced

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

We’re very pleased to announce the public debut of our new RED ONE camera with a hands-on event scheduled for Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 from 11a – 3p at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

We’ll be demonstrating the workflow from acquisition to post and talking about the implications of shooting hi-rez digital images for HD or even SD delivery.

Jon Shryock is our lighting partner for the event. He’ll have a wide array of instruments lighting up the demo area, and might even bring a few other toys.

A light lunch will be served. Please RSVP to RedParty@CMPedge.com

TV Week: Winnercomm sold to Outdoor Channel

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009
.!.

The rumours are true – Tulsa’s troubled Winnercomm has been sold to the Outdoor Channel.

Here’s hoping this is a happy ending for our colleagues there – it’s been a rough year, with a round of layoffs that hit the editors hard. It is interesting that they did have to give up Skycam in the deal, which was perhaps the best hard asset they had available. No word yet about how the sale will impact the ad agency part of Winner, or how the integration will be handled.

David and Don will present a brief overview of some of the technical challenges involved in creating content for the new scoreboard at the University of Oklahoma. If you haven’t seen it, the shape of the screen is 48 x 9, which is more-or-less 3 HD screens side-by-side.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, January 13th, 6pm at the Ronald J. Norick downtown library. You can get more details by clicking here.

OU Pregame video screens in Dolphin Stadium

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

UPDATE: You can see in the photo above that a tiny bit of the video did make air on Fox at the end of this interview.

We just got word that OU’s pregame video screened nicely on the scoreboard at Dolphin Stadium. Edited for Visual Image by David, the graphics were done by Greg at Antifreeze Design. This was a redesign for Greg, since the Dolphins’ board presents at 720P in 16 x 9, and the OU board is 48 x 9, but he managed to crank it out in time.

For what it’s worth, the video got lots of compliments from the stadium crew. We hope at least 1/2 of the 75,000+ fans enjoy the video tomorrow night at the BCS Championship Game!

Special thanks to Pete Gergley, manager of scoreboard operations, for his help on the tech specs for their Daktronics board.

Back to the Blog

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Don here…

So, it’s official: I’ve been slacking in the blog department. While not really a New Year’s resolution, I am committing to at least one post per week in 2009. I know I have at least one reader in Tulsa who may quit giving me grief with this announcement, assuming I follow through.

In other news, look for a redesign of the website sometime this quarter, with a move back to a more traditional home page combined with this blog. We’ll have some announcements regarding our new RED camera, some exciting news on the production front, and perhaps a few other surprises in the weeks and months to come.

Thanks for reading,

–Don
